Artist's Description
"The Walnut Tree" in the courtyard of an Armenian Monastery dating back to around 931 AD. I don't know exactly how old the walnut tree is, but the Monk that I asked guessed it to be around 150, or more, years old. As you can see it has seen some hard times.
The monastery is in the mountains of southern Armenia, virtually in the middle of no-where. The road is just barely wide enough for a smaller sized 4 wheel drive SUV. If you aren't careful you're falling down the side of a mountain (no such thing as guard rails). This monastery is roughly 4,000 feet above sea level.
There weren't any walnuts on the tree at the time, but if you've ever eaten fresh walnuts, they are delicious, not quite the same as what we buy in the stores.
About Bearj B Photo Art
I have had a camera in my hand ever since I can remember, at first, trying to capture the moment with simple snapshots. Gradually those snapshots started becoming more sophisticated and my work was no longer a picture a person, or group in front of a giant building where you had to look closely to identify the people in the picture. As time passed, my love grew stronger. I wanted to create, as opposed to just taking a picture. However, the response from family and friends was, Why would you take a picture of that. Although I did not realize it at the time, I guess I was on the right track. The less they understood, the more I liked what I did and subsequently became bored traveling with others and preferring to travel and go out...
