Montpellier is the third-largest French city on the Mediterranean coast after Marseille and Nice and the 7th-largest city in France. It is also the fastest-growing city in the country for over the past 25 years.

There are three universities and three higher education institutions, outside the university framework, whose students comprise nearly one third of the city’s population.

Montpellier came to prominence around 1,200 AD as a trading center with trade routes throughout the Mediterranean at which time a rich multicultural life was established. At the same time city’s university system came into being, with the establishment of law and medicine faculties.

I have had a camera in my hand ever since I can remember, at first, trying to capture the moment with simple snapshots. Gradually those snapshots started becoming more sophisticated and my work was no longer a picture a person, or group in front of a giant building where you had to look closely to identify the people in the picture. As time passed, my love grew stronger. I wanted to create, as opposed to just taking a picture. However, the response from family and friends was, Why would you take a picture of that. Although I did not realize it at the time, I guess I was on the right track.
