Description
Cairo’s Marketplace
Khan el Khalili, or Cairo’s most famous Souk (market place), dates back to around 1,380’s AD. The market is a potpourri of everything from tee shirts, to spices, to artwork, housewares, to perfumes.
Although today, it is a major tourist attraction, some locals still come to pick up odds and ends here. There is a myriad of stalls for you to wander in and out of, although in many cases you are coerced in buy the vendors, telling you what great bargains they have.
There are many small alleyways and it is easy to get lost, however, eventually you will find your way out. More than likely, you will be carrying several full shopping bags, which you didn’t have when you walked in.
If you are a shopper and a bargainer, you’ll love it.
